Riverside Community College's Culinary Academy

For many, many years the Southern California Restaurant Writers has been presenting a check from the Doris Crandall Scholarship Fund to several schools with a culinary arts department. For 2016 scholarships  were handed out by President Jim Woodin, and Scholarship Chairman Joe Hilbers to Orange Coast College; Los Angeles Harbor College, San Bernardino Valley College and Riverside Community College Culinary Arts Program.
At Riverside as a member of  SCRW  I had the privilege to go along with Jim and Joe to be part of the presentation, The director of the school 's culinary department, Bagher Moghaddam affectionately known as Chef Bobby sat down with us for a delicious lunch in the School Cafe, prepared and served by the students. Chef Bobby told us about their one year program which has produced many award-winning chefs, even at national levels, and that their students are under the guidance of an international team of certified award-winning chefs.
After lunch Chef Bobby was thrilled to lead us on a tour of the college's brand new facility downtown. His enthusiasm and joy was definitely contagious, and we could wee why when we saw the school's new fantastic state-of-the-art kitchen, classrooms and restaurant.
